Avalon Park Arts & Culture Center

I have loved Art for as long as I can remember. So much so, that I became an Art teacher.

I have been teaching for 15 years and have just recently found my niche. I discovered Kantha Cloths, blankets made from old Indian Saris and discarded cloth. Each blanket is made from several layers of thin fabric, each layer has a unique pattern and design. I began using the patchwork fabric to create collages and mixed media art.

I enjoy the whole creative process. Discovering new textile patterns underneath layers of colorful fabric, carefully cutting and arranging the shapes and outlining the designs. It is like painting with fabric. Most of my art is inspired by details in nature, especially plants and flowers. My own colorful and creative versions of beautiful botanicals
