Kaitlyn Embury-Lamm

So many people have touched my life and so many things have led me to where I am now.  I received a Bachelor of Journalism in Advertising with a minor and concentration in Fine Arts from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2012. After I graduated, I worked for a large company in Omaha as a graphic designer for 2 years.  In 2014 I made up my mind not to live an ordinary life – I founded my own business, KT Artistry LLC and started a studio in the Hot Shops (downtown Omaha) where I continued to build my portfolio and expand my expertise, working and mingling with a whole community of artists on a daily basis!  In 2016 I took a leap of faith and moved to Orlando to start working with a small startup escape room venture as their lead artist, while continuing to build my business. I packed up a small U-haul, and drove 26 hours away from everything I knew to start a new life in Florida! Moving away from family was difficult, but there’s something to be said about going all in, being brave even when you don’t feel brave, finding the courage and passion that come with going for your dreams, and seeing how perfect something may turn out to be when you take a chance on yourself!

 

Today, I continue to build on that dream that blossomed in 2014.  My days are filled with mural work featured in many beautiful homes across the country, Universal Studios, as well as the smaller businesses of my fellow entrepreneurs and many Orange County schools.  I create custom commissions, teach beginning and advanced paint classes to aspiring artists in Orlando and hold zoom paint classes (thank you COVID!) to teach all ages and people from all over the world.  I continue to work with multiple authors on illustrating children’s and sci-fi books, character visualization, as well as themed art for game boards that support the author’s work.

 

Becoming a professional artist and creating KT Artistry has been a gift I’m continuously thankful for. This journey, these moments, the amazing community that supports me and my dream – I cannot express how incredibly thankful I am for the opportunities I’ve been given!
