Karines Nieves

Karines Nieves was born and raised native of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. She began drawing when she was a little girl using realism as her technique with graphite pencil as her medium of choice. During college, while seeking a degree in Commercial Art, she was introduced to other art mediums and techniques. Before finishing her degree, she began a career as a graphic designer and have won many awards along the way in the Advertising field. Fine art, on the other hand, was a private love she kept hidden until about 5 or 6 years ago when she decided it was time for me to step out and pursue it full time.

Growing up in Puerto Rico, she was exposed to an environment of colorful traditions with an amazingly beautiful landscape. The streets were always vibrant with splashes of color, a rich variety of folk music, wonderful food, and art in every corner. It was always an adventure. Today, she incorporate this diversity in my choice of mediums ranging from colored pencils to watercolor paint together with techniques varying from realistic to abstract.
