Art has always been a part of how I see the world. I find inspiration in everyday things – a cracked vase, a rustic window frame, an old bicycle left behind. My name is Betty Kapur. I’m a self-taught artist who paints solely for the joy of it. Creating helps me slow down, reconnect with myself, and enjoy the process without any rules or expectations.
In my abstract mixed-media artwork, I love working with bold colors, rich textures, and layered patterns. Exploring different styles and techniques is a part of my creative journey. My work often extends beyond traditional materials, as I repurpose aged, broken, and overlooked objects, giving them a new life through art.
I also have a passion for decorating and interior design, and I enjoy creating spaces that feel warm, thoughtful, and inviting.
At the heart of it all, I create because it makes me feel alive, notice little things, find beauty in unexpected places and share a piece of myself with the world.
Behind the Piece

Unfinished Truth
This painting was born during a time of great transition—when my family was preparing to move from Canada to the United States. The background captures the emotions I felt then—unsettling, uncertain, and tinged with sadness. At the time, the painting felt incomplete, much like my own journey.
Two years later, after settling into our new home and finding a sense of stability, I returned to the canvas. I added silhouettes of Buddha, symbolizing the calm and rootedness I had gradually embraced. The finished piece now tells the full story of my transition—moving from uncertainty to peace, from upheaval to grounding.
