Through our collaboration with Visual Arts Teacher Denise Wilkerson, of Avalon Elementary, we have the opportunity to highlight their creativity and vision. We look forward to supporting and celebrating these talented individuals as they grow to excel in their craft.
The Importance of Art for Youth
Art is incredibly important for our students here at Avalon Elementary School. It gives them a way to express themselves, share their feelings, and tell their stories in ways that words sometimes can’t. When Avalon mariners are making art, they develop creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Plus, art helps them understand and appreciate different cultures and perspectives.

Cultivating Creativity at Avalon Elementary
At Avalon Elementary, we believe every child is an artist at heart. Our goal is to create space where creativity thrives, and artistic expression is celebrated.
We offer a variety of art activities, from drawing and painting to sculpture and mixed media projects. With a background in Studio Art and a deep love for all things “art” myself, as the art educator at Avalon, I guide each student, helping them find their unique artistic voice.
We also organize art exhibitions and after school clubs, giving students the chance to showcase their work and learn from professional artists. Through these efforts, Avalon Elementary nurtures a vibrant community of young artist who are inspired to follow their passions and develop their creative skills.
